The Los Angeles Clippers jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the visiting Houston Rockets to open the game and hung on for a playoff-intense 101-93 win in a battle between the two western conference power-houses.

“They always get off to great first quarters. We let it happen again.” Said Rockets guard James Harden who poured in 18 points. He added, “Coming out behind 17-4, trying to fight our way back, we got back into the game. But if we play solid not giving up so many easy points in transition we make the game easier for ourselves.”

Clippers follow up win in OKC by beating Pelicans in New Orleans, 123-110.

Jamal Crawford paced seven different Clippers in double figures leading Los Angeles to a 123-110 win over the Pelicans in New Orleans.

Crawford nailed seven shots from the three-point arc for a game-high 24 points. Crawford is sizzling coming off of a 36 point effort – including five threes – in Sunday’s win over the Thunder in Oklahoma City.

Needing to add some much needed “paint-presence” after dealing away veteran big men Antawn Jamison and Byron Mullens at last week’s trade deadline, the Los Angeles Clippers signed free agent forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis to a contract today.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. That’s team policy.

No Earth-shattering Los Angeles Clippers trades were made at Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.

That’s unless you count sending little-used 15-year veteranAntawn Jamison and an undisclosed amount of cash to the Atlanta Hawks for the rights to 6-foot-7 forward Cenk Akyol. Akyol who was an Atlanta Hawks second round pick in 2005 and is currently playing in Turkey. The Clippers also sent little-used center Byron Mullens and a future second-round draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for a conditional draft pick – no game-changers for the Clippers.

All-star point guard Chris Paul shot an uncharacteristic one-for-ten from the field and the Los Angeles Clippersjust couldn’t take advantage of a sidelined Tony Parker losing to the San Antonio Spurs, 113-103 in a battle of Western Conference powers.

In his fourth game back from a shoulder injury – including Sunday’s All-Star Game – Paul managed to hit nine free throws giving him eleven points on the night but he’s still making his way back from that six-week layoff.

With the all-star break in the rear-view mirror, the Los Angeles Clippers can get back to work on improving their seeding for the upcoming NBA western conference playoffs.

The Clippers currently rest in the 4th seed – six games behind current top-seed Oklahoma City – as they get ready to tip-off the second half of the season – just 27 games – Tuesday night against the defending Western Conference Champion San Antonio Spurs currently the 2nd seed just four games behind the Thunder.

For the second time in six years the NBA All-Star Game tips-off in the city of New Orleans later today.

Two Los Angeles Clippers are on the Western Conference roster. Power forward Blake Griffin voted in as a starter by the fans, makes his fourth All-Star Game appearance.

In the final game before the NBA All-Star break, all-stars and those who should be all-stars were on display Wednesday night at Staples Center and put on quite a show as the Los Angeles Clippers (37-18) beat thePortland Trail Blazers (36-17), 122-117 in a game that saw 40 lead changes.
